Sam Way

Sam Way

‘Way lulls you in… enchants you with his striking break-up lyricism… …Seeing him in an intimate setting is a privilege’ - Anne Higgins – theupcoming.co.uk

Sam writes with heart, playfulness and dynamism. His songs tell stories, reflections from eight years of travel, once thoughts jotted down in notepads, forgotten poems, and now played out on acoustic guitar. They are undeniably catchy, cleverly crafted and aim to catalyze the captivated listener into exploration.

Hailing from Devon but now based in London, Way began writing songs on the piano at the age of 16. His Father, also a musician, taught him some chords on the guitar, which - upon moving to London to pursue a career in Modeling – quickly became his principal instrument. Ways’ musical talent was discovered by the legendary Eric Hall, who helped launch the careers of Queen and the Sex Pistols, at the famous East London cafe E Pellicci’s. His musical influences range from Uk-Hip Hop to Breakbeat and from Classical through to Dubstep and his many summers spent at festivals like WOMAD as a young boy listening to world music and poetry have helped shape his sound.

Now focusing on writing, collaborating and performing Sam has recently collaborated with Matt Henry (The Voice) and worked with William Baker (Creative director behind Kylie Minouge/Outcast/Rihanna) on his music video to ‘Golden Soldier.’ Venues Way has played include the legendary Ronnie Scotts, Denmark St’s famous 12 Bar, Thorpe Park with Showcase Live - the team that discovered Jessie J - and at the Bristol UWE Summer Ball. In July2014 he played his first Festival in North Devon at Somersault Festival and a month later began a tour of the South West of England, doing Radio interviews with BBC Devon, BBC Cornwall, and played in his hometown Exeter at the Cavern Club. The whole tour was filmed and the footage was made into the music video for Sams’ single ‘Bucket List’

Recently live on air with BBC London and live on television on Not The One Show Sam has also been featured as ‘One to Watch’ in issue 6 of RollaCoaster Magazine. Ways’ song ‘Philosophy of Life’ was also used and recorded by Jack Wills for their 7 Wonders campaign.

Sam recently had a UK tour in February 2015 to coincide with release of his new EP, soon to be released.
