I'd like like to tell a story that sends a message…. often this is about being the person you want to be. I hope people will listen to my songs and be able to relate to them.”
- Luke Potter
Luke is a young English artist-songwriter.
His debut single ‘We’re Alive’ impacted several stations on the East Coast in the summer of 2012, getting top-30 airplay in Boston and San Francisco with video rotation at Hard Rock Cafes (“Great video”).A Dance remix of the song was produced by Lenny B (Adele, One Direction) and was released in June 2012. ‘Promo Only’ commented that it was “exciting hearing such a fresh new and exciting talent like Luke… it’s perfect for US radio”. The song was play-listed on WCPT (Chicago), WRNG (Florida), BT91 Internet and several other BM stations. Luke also performed a well-received showcase gig to US DJ's in Atlantic City in Aug 2012.
“One Day”, a sampler EP previewing Luke’s songs was released in March 2013. Featuring three songs produced in LA by Bleu (Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers…) and one from Steve Power (Robbie Williams, McFly, Busted…) the songs received great reviews and reactions:
Bleu commented simply that, “Luke Potter writes ear-sticking songs that just won’t leave your brain!” whilst Peters Power Pop blog said, “I've just been exposed to a one-man Jonas Brothers.” HighWire Daze thought, “The combination of Potter and Bleu has presented a stunning work of pure pop perfection that is not to be missed.” and Bruce Brodeen (Not Lame / PopGeekHeaven.com) summarised with “it’s all downright wonderful!”
Luke returned to LA several times through 2013 and he played a showcase at the ASCAP Expo and recorded 8 further songs with Bleu again doing production. He also guested at Hard Rock café in Hollywood and collaborated with a number of top LA writers including Andy Stochansky (Goo Goo Dolls, Ron Sexsmith etc) who he wrote several songs incl ‘So Sugar’ and ‘Crazy Enough To Try And Change The World’.
In September 2013 he signed a management contract with WEG (Wright Entertainment Group) and Orrigami. Since then he’s been even busier with writing trips to Sweden, Canada and USA during 2014 where he’s worked with some amazing collaborators.
While Luke has spent much of 2014 writing and recording he has also found time to do his first mini USA tour with ‘Camplified’, and has toured UK Schools (with over 100 shows in the year!) all to a great reaction.
He released his debut CD album, “So Sugar” produced by Bleu in November 2014 (self release – CD, iTunes Amazon etc.) and reaction to this and the videos of songs from the album has been incredible. There’s more music and tours planned for 2015 so look out!
