Only taking up poetry and spoken word at the age of seventeen, young Samuel King has performed in various locations around London and the UK including schools, colleges, universities, clubs and bars sharing his diverse, yet humorous concepts and perceptions of life.
Coming from a background off rap and grime, Samuel states that “actual lyrical content was thrown away and to me that is and was the most important part of music for me” which caused Samuel to begin writing poetry as he believes “it allows the individual to express themselves in a way that makes sense without listeners getting lost in the music... an actual message can be passed.”
“I think my brain grew up to quickly, which some would say is a bad thing but I used it to my advantage to inspire me to write, and show younger generations that a sense of reality is better when it comes sooner rather than later.” - Samuel
Often recognised for his thought provoking, impactful poem ‘Fatherless Britain‘ and ‘What I Wasn’t Taught In School plus witty ‘Smart Phone Love’, Samuel specifies his range of poetry around the use of time and coming to a sense of reality.
