Kasika is a cultural association created in 1986 and declared in 1988. Their head office is located at Fonds-Cacao in Capesterre Belle Eau in Guadeloupe. and it is headed by a 9-member Board of Directors.
The name Kasika comes from the musical instrument, the drum (the Ka) on another (Si) Drum (Ka). In Creole, it's a ka on another Ka).
In 1986, Kasika began with the carnival, with about fifty people, the same year we organized the party of our Cacao Fund section in Capesterre. Beside these two activities, a small dance group composed of young girls animated the various podiums of celebration.
Their activities included the organization of local cultural and sports events in order to animate the district during the year (festival of the section in July, outings, sports tournaments, various animations, cleaning of the section, debates) . Currently they have set up a project for the organisation of social actions for young people who live in precarious situations or long-term unemployment.
Their Carnival section, which includes more than 150 members, musicians and dancers, has participated in Festivals organised in the various municipalities and during the Carnival period (from January 1 to Ash Wednesday) since its creation in 1986.
